What do media do?
It is the duty of the media to publish information correctly and promptly. As far as possible it should be verified whether the information given, or reproduced, is correct.
Ever so often, which I already brought up in this blog, I am fascinated over the fact how little equestrian media actually dig deep into the sport. For sure there are, and always will be exceptions to that rule.
But in general I feel it is more common that the mainstream media or the more alternative ones, such as a private blog like this, are the one taking on the big tasks to actually investigate.
The other day I came across a huge article about Evidensia, and their quest to take over anything and everything animal health care in my country of residence. The article was found in an online magazine with no normal connection to animals, pets nor sport with animals. In all it felt very familiar.

So far I have not seen one single article about this in my local horsey outlets. Not one. Which makes me wonder what really is the purpose of equestrian media.
Are they there for the sport or are they there for themselves?
Which equine magazines attract people and why?
Why do private alternatives, big and or small attract readers?
Why do magazines tend to use "guest writers" big and or small, when they want to bring up some rough topics? Why don't they do it themselves?
Why do I, and others, often get the feeling journalists have been paid to travel to report about certain events, companies and such, and by doing so break like every ethical rule of the press?
I often ask myself these questions. Maybe more so when rumour on the street has it some current affairs are bigger, and way weirder, than one initially thought it was. But media don't report about it.
Why don't they?
Should I?
Should anybody?

Last but not least I really wonder why an average international four star eventing rider, who recently was reported, and I presume is under investigation, for animal abuse is allowed to compete [national] show jumping at Gothenburg Horse Show, Sweden.
That may not be as necessary to investigate as it would be to explain it to me like I am a two year old. Cause I just don't get it.
