First female president elected for the IOC
Kirsty Coventry has been elected as the new President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), becoming the first woman to hold the position.

Kirsty Coventry, 41, is a former swimmer with seven Olympic medals, including two gold, making her Africa’s most successful swimmer.
She has served as Zimbabwe’s Minister of Sport since 2019, joined the IOC Athletes' Commission in 2012, and has been a member of the IOC Executive Board since 2023.
FEI President, Ingmar De Vos was re-elected for a second term as a member of the International Olympic Committee.
